WORLD HANDWRITING CONTEST
About the contest: We provide two quotes for contestants to write. Contestants under age 12 should write out the shorter of the two copy-quotes. Contestants ages 13 and older should write out the longer copy-quote.
Who May Enter: Anyone in the world, age 8 or over, may enter the World Handwriting Contest.
Deadlines: The World Handwriting Contest accepts entries each year from January 1 until June 30. To qualify for prizes in a given year, an entry must arrive on or before June 30 of that year.
Prizes: WHC will award first and second prizes in each of these categories and subcategories.

Theme: Economics and Freedom in Islamic Societies.
About the Contest: The 2007 Ibn-Khaldoun invites young people to write essays that reflect their views about the relationship between economics and freedom within the Islamic context.
Awards: 1st Prize : USD$ 2,000
2nd Prize: USD$ 1,000
3rd Prize : USD$ 500

The S.E.VEN Fund today published its inaugural 2000-word Student Essay Competition
Theme: Poverty can be regarded as a matter of exclusion from networks of productivity, and not simply as having an unequal portion of what is imagined to be a fixed number of economic goods. In that sense, ending worldwide poverty is serious business. Describe enterprise based solutions to poverty in this context.
Awards: three (3) undergraduate student prizes of US $10,000 each and one (1) graduate student prize of US $20,000.

Who Can Enter: This contest is open to all aspiring Wizards between the ages of 18 and 138 years old. Contestants do not have to live in North America -- entries are welcome worldwide!

Awards: The four Winners will each receive a scholarship to the Grey School of Wizardry, worth the tuition of one "year-level" (24 credits). Each Winner will also each receive a copy of A Wizard's Bestiary by Oberon Zell-Ravenheart and Grey School 's very own Ash "LeopardDancer" DeKirk. Doreen and Jim McElvany 2008 Nonproliferation Challenge Essay Contest
About the contest: In an effort to spur new scholarship and policy initiatives to address today's vexing proliferation problems, CNS and its journal, The Nonproliferation Review, are launching an essay contest. The contest is designed to find and publish the most outstanding new papers in the nonproliferation field. Although we will not exclude essays with a historical orientation (if they provide guidance for current or future policy), our priority is to generate new insights and recommendations for resolving contemporary nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons challenges, including those involving both state and non-state actors.
Eligibility: This contest is open to persons worldwide, except for current faculty, staff, and students of the Monterey Institute of International Studies, members of The Nonproliferation Review editorial board, and anyone involved in reviewing or judging submissions. To be eligible for the student prize, an entrant must be enrolled at a college or university at the time of submission. Prizes: One Grand Prize of $10,000 will be awarded to the author(s) of the best paper from all entries. Outstanding Student Essay Prize: $1,000.
